A Little Bit About Our History And Present Operations

Scott Engwert, President

Current Midwest was founded in 1988 by Tom Engwert. Initially, the company offerings included new and reconditioned electric motors with a focus on fast reliable service. Since then, our product line has expanded to include bus plugs and bus ducts, cooling towers, transformers, and other industrial equipment, such as circuit breakers, distributions panels, motor starters, motor control centers, and fusible disconnects.

From the beginning, Tom was joined by his son Scott, who while attending Purdue University, spent his summers and weekends doing demolition work, driving delivery trucks, and learning the business from the ground up. After graduating in 1991, Scott joined Current Midwest full time working as a mechanic before moving into sales, distribution, and acquisitions. In 2011, Tom retired, and Scott took over as president.

Current Midwest opened its US headquarters in Michigan City on January 1, 2010. Situated on 3 acres near major U.S. interstates, our 10,000 sq. ft warehouse allows Current Midwest to streamline its operations for fast and immediate service. Current Midwest can ship to most Midwest locations for standard next day delivery. Daily UPS pickups ensure shipping is quick and timely.
